Winner of the 2010 Thelonious Monk Competition, CecileMcLorinSalvant performs her interpretations of the standards and shares some original songs, too.
Grammy-winning vocalist CecileMcLorinSalvant is gaining renown in Europe and the US for her interpretations of classic jazz standards. Radio France describes her voice as "disarmingly musical” with “the class of Sarah Vaughn, the instinct of Betty Carter and the dark lows of Carmen McCrae.” In 2010, she won the Thelonious Monk Competition in Washington, DC. At this year’s Spoleto Festival, she’ll perform original songs from her 2015 album, For One to Love. CecileMcLorinSalvant performs Friday, June 3rd at 9pm at the College of Charleston Cistern Yard.
